The novel The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time and the news article about a man wrongly accused of murder are very similar. Christopher Boone, the main character of the novel was wrongly convicted of murder when he was found with his neighbours dead dog. This is because he was found holding the dog crying over his body. “‘Did you kill the dog, Christopher?’ I said, ‘I didn’t kill the dog.’ He said, ‘Do you know that it is wrong to lie to a policeman and that you can get into a very great deal of trouble if you do?’” (Haddon 17). The policeman didn’t believe Christopher was innocent at first but he never stopped telling them he was innocent. Likewise, Lamar Johnson the man from the news article was convicted of first degree murder. Johnson became the primary suspect for the murder because he went by the same nickname as the murderer. “Even after being sentenced to life, lawyers say Johnson always claimed his innocence and never changed his story.” Both Christopher and Lamar knew they were innocent and never gave up until they were believed and set free.
