The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is a mystery novel written by Mark Haddon. The novel is about a boy named Christopher Boone who is 15 years old and has autism. He seeks to find the truth about who killed his neighbours dog and why. As well as unraveling the mystery of what actually happened to his mother. Throughout his journey he has to overcome fears and obstacles that before he would have thought impossible. I found the novel very interesting, Haddon did an excellent job of making it seem like you were in Christopher’s brain going through all of his thought processes with him. This kept the book moving, one minute you would be reading about who killed the neighbour’s dog and the next about Sherlock Holmes, but in the end everything was tied back together. Haddon added specific details to the novel like making the chapters go up by prime numbers and adding pictures to show the way Christopher’s mind works to make it more convincing that Christopher was the one writing the novel. Although I liked the novel there were a few parts in the book where I lost interest because they were either taking too long to get from point A to B or because they got off topic and it didn’t always make sense at first, but trust me it always did later on. I highly recommend this novel to anyone who wants an interesting, easy read book.
