Have you ever been walking down the street feelin’ really good about being alive so you give the next person that walks past you a friendly smile and they look at you like you have a gremlin growing out of the top of your head that just threatened to kill them…?
The lack of friendliness now is crazy! I don’t know how many times I’m walking down the hall at school and hear someone making fun of another person or see someone being pushed down the last few stairs. Is it because for some reason individually we started thinking no one else matters except for us?
So then my next question to you is…
Why the hell are we all so absorbed in our own world to take a second out of our day to step out of our ego and smile or just be nice to another person. WHY!? Why have we become a generation of ignorance. Why has it become an unnatural and scary occurrence when someone wants to help others.
If I asked you how many times you smile at someone in a day could you tell me that it’s at least once? (your friends don’t count because you’re already friendly with them).
At this point in my blog many of you are probably thinking something like, “Not everyone is ignorant, you shouldn’t give us all the same label.” And I’m not, of course some people are still friendly, but the majority of people don’t give a crap about anyone other than themself.
Obviously none of us want to admit we were the person that yelled at a random person for accidentally walking into us in a crowded area or got mad at a restaurant because our waiter forgot to bring out water for the second time in a row, but unfortunately it happens. And what is even more unfortunate is that we seem to have forgotten that we are ALL human.
If someone came up to you and asked if you needed help carrying your groceries would you take their help or would be afraid that they are just offering so they can steal from you? Most people now would be afraid the person was going to steal from them.
Maybe I’ve been being harsh and it’s not ignorance, maybe everyone is just becoming more independent to keep up with our always changing society. But, being independent does not mean only you matter, or that for some reason you’re better than the next person. Because we are ALL human, we were ALL put on earth for a reason. And I know damn well that the reason was not to become cruel towards each other and to make life a race to death.
So, take a second out of your day to step out of your ego, and smile at someone. Sure they may look at you like a gremlin is growing out of your head but eventually if everyone starts smiling our gremlins will disappear.

These two videos show two genuinely nice people. The first one is a man who decides he's going to help others. Some people take him up on the offer and others brush it off because they think he's weird or scary. I love the boarder around it saying "What if everyone did this" the world would be truly amazing if everyone did do what this man did. The second one is Alfred Hitchcock's definition of happiness, he is a very sensitive person who thinks angry and mad are unneeded emotions. Both are fantastic videos of true kindness.
